Penang Trip

ok i did say i was gg to write abt the Penang trip soon. sorry tt i kinda forgot abt it until KC reminded me. and to think tt i have always tot no one reads my blog.

anyway, i went to Penang with connie and winnie. its one of those hey-we-got-time-let's-go-for-a-trip kinda thing. winnie was unemployed then, connie had a few days off and i was on exam leave. ya u read it rite, i was having exams then. err, i hope none of my colleagues ever stumble upon this blog and finds out i was having fun in Penang while they were working their butts off for the grad preparation. but in my defense, i was on no-pay leave and had like 2 weeks till my next paper and it was quite an easy measy paper. okkayy, tt still isnt quite justifiable i noe but watever.

so back to the trip. i really would love to write in full but considering the fact tt its been quite some time since May and oso tt i had to make room in my hippocampus for mathematical formulae and theories on strategic mgt, i have little memory left on wat took place during the trip. so if u need detailed info, please refer to winnie's blog . otherwise, i hope my limited account of the trip will suffice.

i had serious gastric on the first day. such a spoiler, cos i wasnt able to fully enjoy the food, esp the kuey chap which looked so yummy! but even amidst the pain and suffering (oh god im such a drama queen) the asam laksa at penang hill and the xing ren cha at some other place were still delicious. oh oh, and the char siew thingy we had, it was jus plain heaven. even for a supposedly non-pork eater like me.

the bus rides were so fun! though the system is a bit complicated and the buses itself are pretty rundown, its still exciting for me cos i've nv taken a bus in msia before. i dunno abt u, but the looks of the bus stops jus makes me wonder if there are indeed buses in operation. but surprisingly, the timings of the buses are quite in sync. once the bus from the opp side comes, the bus you are waiting for will come in the next few seconds. so next time u are in msia, try taking a bus. the bus stops are for real!

we visited the kek lok si temple (极乐寺) at penang hill and piously climbed to the top of the pagoda. its weird how most ppl can climb a pagoda when they see one but would complain abt taking the stairs from one storey to the next. ya, im one of those weirdos and a stupid one too. its so tiring lor! the process literally took my breathe away i could have dropped dead from respiratory failure and proceeded to ji le si jie. and there i was wondering y its called the kek lok si pagoda.

if 2007 marks the highest record of visitors for Penang's toy museum since its opening, the 3 of us would have contributed to tt milestone. i dun think i need to elaborate more on how crappy the place is.

lunch on the second day was at a makan place in lebuh keng kwee. the place had such a nostalgic feel abt it, don't you think? i wouldnt mind trading places with the ah cheks there, eating my chendol, listening to canto oldies and jus sitting there all day reading newspapers.

we did some shopping at some malls and oso caught a movie, 28 Weeks Later, at Gurney Plaza. after the movie, we had to like dash back to the hotel cos its like past 12am. for me, i was more worried abt being chased by an infected. wat, its scary lor, i can still pic the daddy with his blood-shot eyes and hissings.

so, i think tts abt the main highlights for me. it was a fun trip with the girls, though the gastrics sucks. hope i didnt spoil it for them too. ah yes, jus in case ure wondering. nope, i did not bring any notes with me on the trip. :p
